ULTRASOUND: Sonogram revealed lots of white spots on both ovariesFrom: Susan (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 29 Feb 2008 02:37:30 -0600 (CST)
Help! I just went for a sono tonight and when the the sonogram technician saw lots of white spots on both ovaries she said she'd never seen anything like it before. That alarmed me. I'm 38 and am 9 months post a rough twin pregnancy that was hard won after two rounds of IVF (the first failed and I believe the second left resulted in hyperstimulation). I also have a 6 year old through an earlier normal conception and pregnancy. I was diagnosed a few years ago while undergoing an infertility workup with endometriosis and am concerned that these white spots may represent advancement of the disease. I am also concerned because last year a first cousin died of ovarian cancer and now a second has just been diagnosed with the same. Both cases appear to have been/to be aggressive and unstoppable. My question: what might these white spots be? And, given my history, should I seek some kind of specialist rather than work with a generalist OB/GYN? If so, what kind of specialist should I be looking for? I appreciate any responses. Thank you!
