MENORRHAGIA: ovulation bleeding?

The last four months I have been experiencing bleeding midcycle that lasts for approximately 5 days. It usually occurs midcycle about 10-14 days before my next expected period and starts out as blood in mucus and then turns to just blood. It is always light bleeding and doesn't require more than a lite tampon or pantyliner. Is this normal ovulation bleeding or is this something I should keep an eye on? My husband and I have been TTC and I had a hysterosonogram in October with everything looking normal other than possible PCOS. I am going back to my MD in May if we are not pregnant by then but was curious if this bleeding is normal or if I'm ovulating at all? Prior to all of this I had been on Lo Ovral for about 8 yrs and can't remember exactly what my periods were like to compare things to now. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!
