POSTPARTUM: Possible prolapseFrom: Kris (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 6 Feb 2008 09:30:26 -0600 (CST)
I apologize... this is very graphic, but I am scared and embarrassed to call the DR. I delivered vaginally about 10 days ago with no tear or episiotomy. I have had very little postpartum pain and was walking and doing normal activity within a few hours. Last night curiosity lead me to view myself using a mirror. I noticed a fleshy bulge that appears to be blocking my vaginal opening. It is not outside the vagina, but instead about 2 CM inside. At the top of the "bulge" is a small red spot or possibly a hole (I can't easily tell) and at the bottom I can see an opening into the vagina but it is very small. After looking through the web, I am worried this could this be a uterine or bladder prolapse. From what I've described, should I make a DR appointment or just wait and see if it gets better. Of course, I do have a postpartum checkup scheduled in about 4 weeks. If I wait, could it get worse? Or, am I overreacting?
