Re: PREGNANCY: Is there a difference between braxton hicks and uterus irritability? From: William F. von Almen, II, MD, FACOG (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 29 Jan 2008 21:30:42 -0600 (CST)
Callie Braxton Hicks are contractions that look like contractions, act like contractions, but are irregular in their presentation (timing, placement, length) and do not invoke cervical change. Uterine irritability is more a low grade cramping that shows on the monitor, and often the patient does not feel them. On the monitor, it looks like little minor waves, short and of low amplitude...Dr. von Almen
