PREGNANCY: 29 weeks pregnant with preterm laborFrom: Callie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 26 Jan 2008 12:14:24 -0600 (CST)
I've had preterm labor continously since 15 weeks when I started bleeding. I've been on bedrest, procardia, and had numerous stays at the hospital. I keep returning because I have spotting and contractions that are regular. They didn't call my doctor the last time but the nurses did check me and noted I wasn't dilated and did the FFN. They stated that it was labor but it wasn't progressive labor. They gave me a shot of pain meds and then sent me home to rest. I have had a severe reaction to procardia so when the nurse tried to make me take it I refused I asked her if she had read my chart and she said no. She said she didn't even know that I had a problem with procardia. Every since then I've had contractions regularly and last night I felt a tremendous amount of pressure and today it feels like I am literally walking around with a balloon between my legs. I've lost large portions of my mucus plug but as I said before I've had no dilation at all. My question is: At 29 weeks, due to my history of premature labor, is this something that can happen? I am just wondering if this is even happening and what symptoms I should be looking for. Obviously I've had all the signs of preterm labor now I am just not sure what to think of this. I was just at the hospital the day before yesterday and I do not see my doctor until tuesday the 29th also I do not return to the fetal specialist until the 15th of feb. Can a baby's head engage so early on because of the contractions but then dislodge? Thanks
