PTLSTUBAL!: Why was I not warned of Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome? From: Regina (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 25 Jan 2008 19:52:47 -0600 (CST)
I would like to know why women aren't told about PTLS?! I had a tubal ligation done on April 9, 2007 after having my twins, the very first cycle after I had my babies, I have been living a life of heck since then and haven't been the same, I have over 35 symptoms and I'm still counting, I have body hair loss, don't shave anymore. The same as if I was to have a hysterecomy. I have joint pains, I'm loaded with cysts, I have fluid under my coldasac, I have brain fog like you wouldn't believe, I throw up and get the runs when I ovulate. I had really bad panic attacks and hot flashes, memory loss, skin is wrinkling like you wouldn't believe, my 85 year old grandmother has nicer hands than me now :( I pass brown clots when I ovulate, I was NEVER on BCP's, I had a tubal reversal in hoping that something would change, nothing really did, I'm lost here. I even showed my mom this clot that I was passing and she said something is wrong. Every single doctor that I've been to told me it's all in my head and that I'm depressed and need to go on anti depresents, I've been to so many doctors that I've lost count in the last 9 months. My period is so heavy it makes me sick. I can go on and on about this. What gets me angry is that I was never warned of PTLS, when I went to my GYNO for help she just laughed when I mentioned it, I went to the ER 3 times, the first two times I mentioned PTLS and that maybe I'm suffering because of this and they sent a therapist over to me, the third time I went, I learned not to say anything about PTLS, they never sent a therapist, come on now. Let me say that I can't wait for the day that this comes out and hits the fan! I don't believe for one minute that GYNO's don't know about PTLS, there are way too many women complaining of the same exact symptoms for this to be in our heads. I am now going to a Reproductive Endo that helped me get pregnant, she monitored me the entire time I was trying to get pregnant so she knows all my hormones and my history of how my body should be running, all the tests came back that I'm not making enough estrogen, progestin, and my FSH is off. She even stated to me that something is definitely wrong here. I would LOVE to know why women are not being warned that "MAYBE" just "MAYBE" something can go wrong when doing a tubal, if SO many women are complaining after they've had one?!?
