MENORRHAGIA: Diagnostic testsFrom: Lori (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 24 Jan 2008 21:04:05 -0600 (CST)
I started having heavy periods that came closer and closer together until they were finally 2 weeks apart before I went to see my gyne. He has tried me on 3 different things, the first high estrogen pill caused depression, the low estrogen pill worked for about 6 months, then my periods came closer and closer again until the last one came 2 weeks before the sugar pills. Now I am on Nuvaring (have had it in less than a month). I asked him at the last appt if there could be something in there causing the irregular bleeding and he said it's just my age. I have a friend who works in a women's clinic (we are both RN's, I work in OB) who says that he should at the LEAST do an ultrasound to make sure that there isn't something causing this before he tries me on a fourth thing should the Nuvaring not work. If he refuses, should I seek a second opinion from another gyne in town?
