Hi Alison-
I am not a doctor, but I am a woman who can relate. I suffer from
endometriosis, which for me was diagnosed finally 6 years ago at the age
of 26. Has anyone ever mentioned endometriosis to you or have you done
any research on it? If not I definately think you should! You have many
of the signs and symptoms of it. I, like you, began menstruating when I
was in 5th grade, and spent many hours in the nurse's office or at home
on the couch in a ball due to painful periods. I had been told I was
overreacting, it was all in my head, I needed to toughin up, etc., etc.
Well, I finally had a doctor who would listen and a diagnosis shortly
after. Look up about endo. and if you think you have it, please talk
to your gynecologist about it. But realize there are many things that
go along with having endo., and it is VERY important that you find a
doctor who is skilled at treating it. (Unfortunately, most general gyn.
aren't, but it is a starting place for you.)
Good luck to you!
