Your visit with the gyn doc should be completely confidential to you only. If you are sexually active the exam should not be terribly uncomfortable but always still a bit embarrassing. Whether you confide in your parents regarding sexual activity is a family matter twix you and them. I would guess that your mom at least already knows - mom's know everything. Birth control considerations are certainly important. It's good find out why you are having so much pain. This is never normal in a young woman. Good luck.
