GYNECOLOGIC: Abnormal pap: Glandular, endocervical and diagnosis? From: TW (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 31 Dec 2007 12:26:02 -0600 (CST)
I wrote a few weeks ago about my abnormal pap. Apparently I have abnormal glandular / endocervical cells. I am 32, have had two kids and no previous gyn issues. I'm also HPV negative and have never had an abnormal pap before this one. It was done about five weeks after giving birth to my daughter. My Dr. did a colp but saw nothing. He didn't do a biopsy either. Instead he wanted to do a D&C and LEEP. I talked with another gyn who said this was overkill and that I should retest and go from there. I told my current Dr. I wished to cancel the procedure until I had my second opinion and he dismissed me as a patient! I am not kidding! This happened on Friday. Can he do that legally? All I wanted was a second opinion before I agreed to any kind of invasive procedure! So which Dr. is right? Either of them? I'm scheduled with for another pap with the second gyn next week. This is all so confusing!
