GYNECOLOGIC: bleeding during intercourse and loss of tissueFrom: Michelle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 31 Dec 2007 06:28:09 -0600 (CST)
Dear Doctors, Over the last 2 1/2 years, I have had severe menstrual bleeding during and between periods. Twelve months ago I was diagnosed with mild/moderate cervical dysplasia and 6 months ago I had the novasure surgery completed on my uterus. This procedure has stopped the heavy bleeding. My last pap result, biopsies, and coposcopy results 5 months ago indicated severe dysplasia but no presence of fibroids or tumors. I am still bleeding during and after intercourse and there is now a presence of considerable tissue loss as well in the last 3 months. I have no pain during intercourse but this causes great stress and concern for my husband and I. My oby/gyn has suggested for treatment that I continue to come in for pap smears, biopsies, ultrasounds, and coposcopies every 6 months and that I am to "destress" my life so that the HPV virus will not grow past the walls of the cervix. If my cervix has changed from mild to severe within a 12-18 month period is this the proper course of action and what is the newly appearing bloody tissue that is present, does this indicate that the abnormal cells have extended beyond the cervix? Please advise. Sincerely, Michelle M age 37
