CHRONICPAIN: Thickened Endometrial Lining/Free Fluid in Pelvis

I have a long medical history, some of which may have contributed to my current pain. I have Spina Bifida with neurogenic bladder, so I have had bladder surgery and I've also had two abdominal surgeries (one to repair a bowel obstruction and one to drain a plasma cyst on my right ovary). I know that adhesions from these procedures probably have an effect on me, but the pain I have been experiencing seems to go beyond that.

For the past year or so, I have had frequent pelvic pain. It ranges from a dull lower back ache with sharp pelvic pain to strong pressure that makes me feel like my organs are going to fall out of my pelvis. Intercourse is painful to the point where my most recent relationship has ended and I have no desire to begin another one. I have a period each month and my cycles are about 33 days in length and I have no abnormal bleeding/bleeding between periods.

I had a transvaginal ultrasound on December 20, about 20 days before my next period is supposed to start. The findings were that my endometrial lining has thickened to 13 mm and I also have a "moderate" amount of free fluid in my pelvic cavity.

I am trying not to worry, but if I had just finished my period about a two weeks before the test, my uterine lining shouldn't have been that thick, right? They could not visualize my left ovary at all during the scan and the visualization of the right one was "questionable." I'm 26 - any ideas about what this could be? I have an appointment with an OB/GYN on January 10 and am trying not to freak myself out in the meantime.
