Re: CONTRACEPTION: Stopping Birth ControlFrom: Pat Sonnenstuhl (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 23 Dec 2007 15:25:55 -0600 (CST)
Some women have a return to cycles immediately after stopping the pill. some women conceive the first cycle off of the pill. Others take longer. The pill is an artificial period, and once the pill is out of your sysltem you revert back to the normal cycle for you. Extended periods of time on the pill might affect the cycles long term. Sometimes the pill is used to 'regulate' and irregular cycle, but many times the cycles return to being irregular, especially if there is an additional underlying cause, such as PCOS, which can also cause irregular cycles. In other words, this all will vary from individual to individual, so there is nothing hard and fast and always true.
