Uterine infections during early pregnancy are rare. Spotting, although worrisome, is fairly common and thankfully often goes away on its own. A normal ultrasound like you report is a good sign. I hope that you have had blood tests (at least) to determine why you have had 5 miscarriages. There are several disorders that can cause recurring miscarriage. I think there is still an article I wrote several years ago on this web site (obgyn.net) about recurrent miscarriages. Please ask you doctor if you have had the full workup for this. Best wishes,
