CHRONICPAIN: Pelvic Pain for 11 Months & Nothing helps!! Please help!From: Laura (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 9 Dec 2007 22:28:16 -0600 (CST)
I'm Laura, I'm 22, I live in St. Louis & I have been suffering from severe pelvic pain for 11 months now. It started in feb. & I thought it was a kidney stone because I have a strong history of them. My urologist took an xray & said I have a 3mm stone on the right side. Basically said if I don't pass it in 2 weeks to call back & schedule surgery to have it removed by cystoscopy. Well 2 weeks went by & nothing passed. Set up & appt. for april 21st. Got the surgery, woke up & the urologist told me there was no stone there & I needed to contact my OBGYN. I went to my OBGYN & she said I needed to see a general surgeon, so I went & seen one & he said that he believed my issue was OBGYN related & endometriosis was possible. I went back to her & She said she was 90% sure I had endometriosis & started me on Lupron depot injections. 3 months passed & I was still in severe pain. Then she said give it another month. Then she tells me she basically has no idea what is wrong with me & wants to do a laproscopy. I made the appt. The whole time, I'm wondering why I haven't ever had an MRI to determine what exactly this 3mm mass is & wondering why she's not seeming to put in any effort to figure it out. She really didn't even ask questions, I had to tell her & it's like she didn't listen. I got fed up that she was so quick to throw me on $650 monthly injections & cancelled the laproscopy appt. I went to a pelvic pain specialist. I had to travel 300 miles to see him & He did a normal ultrasound & internal along with a vaginal exam & they did a potassium test. He said he believes I have interstitial cycstitis, endometriosis & pelvic floor dysfuntion. I have been taking the meds he prescribed & doing physical therapy for about 6 weeks & the pain hasn't improved. It's obvious that I have the pelvic floor dysfunction because when I have biofeedback done you can see the pelvic muscles spasm & it does cause pain but is it causing all of it? That's a LOT of pain for spasms. I'm wondering what this 3mm growth is! It's still there hasn't moved & really hasn't grown. It shows up in CT scans & KUB's & it's RIGHT where my pain is loccated. As far as my pain, Burning, pressure, sharp, tearing, feels like I can bear down & push it out. Sometimes it's better than other times, but it never subsides to where its atleast comfortable. Sex is uncomfortable also & the pain greatly increases for sometimes days! At this point, I have seen so many doctors & I'm unsure what to do or where to turn.
