ONCOLOGY: Armpit lump

I am worried about a lump I found under my arm. Last night my underarm was a bit sore when I stretched by arm out the whole way, so I looked in the mirror to see if I had cut it shaving or something. I didn't notice any cuts, but there was a small lump that was painful to the touch. It seems to be under the skin, so I was fairly sure that it wasn't an ingrown hair. It is still sore to the touch and about the same size (size of a pea) and there is no discoloration of the skin.

I have a history of breast cancer in my family, so I am a bit worried. However, I am only 24 and I know that breast cancer would be very abnormal in a girl my age. (I also perform regular self-exams and yearly professional breast exams, and no one in my family got cancer before the age of 50) I am also just getting over a fairly serious case of shingles on my back and my boyfriend was sick with the flu recently (although I never got any symptoms). I know that there are lymph nodes in the armpit, so I don't want to over react to my body's healing process. I would really appreciate it if you could let me know if this sounds like something I need to get checked out right away, or would it be ok to see how it fares for a week or so?
