GYNECOLOGIC: Bacterial Vaginosis with no smell?

Hi all...

I have been suffering from what I believe to be recurrent vaginosis for the last 6 months...I have the classic discharge and other symptoms, EXCEPT a fishy odor. At first I wasn't sure what it was, but it did not respond to over the counter yeast treatment (Monistat), so I went to my Dr. and desribed. The test for BV came back negative, but I really wonder as this is very bothersome. I know there is the main kind with a fishy smell but I have heard there are several less common varieties with the same symptoms but no fishy odor. This seems to be what is plaguing me. I wonder if the test was only for the main kind of bacteria, and could have missed a variety of BV that I actually have? I feel like my Dr. thinks I'm crazy, but the constant discharge and irritation is enough to drive me mad. Thanks for your help!
