Re: MENORRHAGIA: Spotting lasting 10 days.From: Walter Futterweit, MD, FACE,FACP (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 20 Nov 2007 21:08:07 -0600 (CST)
Dear Denissa, PCOS takes on many forms of menstrual dysfunction. The Metformin does not usualy cause this and more likely you have a thickened lining of the womb (endometrium) which can easily be measured by an sonogram and at the same time may reflect the presence of a polyp. Are you taking other meds? eg. 1) low-dose oral contraceptive; 2) spironolactone (Aldactone) which may cause intermentrual bleeding sometimes on a low dose pill. Best wishes, Dr. Futterweit
