BACTERIALVAGINOSIS: Chronic BVFrom: Alyse (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 9 Nov 2007 13:48:31 -0600 (CST)
I will try to make this short. I have been sexually active for 5 years, and in those 5 years I have never had BV. Six months ago I began using Yaz for birth control and period regulation. I got BV the first time about 3 months into the Yaz. The doctor gave me Flagyl, I got better, and thought it was over. However, for the next three months I would get BV right after I finished my period. My question is: Is there a connection between the Yaz and the chronic BV? Yaz has caused my periods to go from being 4-6 days long to only 1 1/2- 2 days long. My speculation is maybe the shortened period is causing a pH imbalance? Nothing else about my lifestyle has changed. I am still eating the same foods, using the same (unscented) tampons I've used since I was 12, still wearing the same undergarments (cotton, of course), still having sex just as often (if not less, thanks to Yaz). Any answers?
