CHRONICPAIN: thickened endometrial lining and mirena?From: anonymous@obgyn.netThu, 1 Nov 2007 13:53:43 -0500 (CDT)
Last week I had to go to the ER for back pain/cramping that was truly unbearable and had been increasing for several days (vicodin could not even relieve it). My history is that I've had chronic pelvic pain for one year and had left ovary/cyst removed with no pain relief. The back pain is a totally new symptom but reminded me of when I had my cyst (small but questionable endometrioma) 8 months ago. It radiates around my sides at upper hip level. At the ER, they did an ultrasound and did find a 3 cm cyst on my right ovary, but it was a simple cyst that shouldn't cause this kind of pain. During the US the tech said I had a thickened endometrial lining consistent with my Mirena use. I am confused because I am no longer bleeding with the Mirena, but still have very painful cramping around my period time (two weeks before and week after). One doctor told me that I should not have a thickened endometrial lining when the Mirena is working. Can anyone shed any light on this for me? This entire year, I have had so many diagnosis that were then reversed and I am so frustrated and confused. My follow up is next week and it is likely I will have treatment for pelvic congestion syndrome with venography/embolization. Thank you answering this.
