MENORRHAGIA: Question regarding ablation with history of CISFrom: Jazzylady (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 30 Oct 2007 12:00:20 -0500 (CDT)
Hi there, I am scheduled for a Novasure ablation since I have very heavy periods with bleeding in between. I have had endo biopsies, etc which point to a hormonal problem. BCP stopped the bleeding, but I suffered horrible classic migraines with the pill, so that is not an option. I had originally wanted a hysterectomy with my past history: In 2000, I had a scalpel conization (pretty large) for CIS. CIS was found, and the margins were clear. Follow-up paps were normal, but then one came back grade 3 in 2001. I had a second cold knife conization (gyno-oncologist was treating me). The second cone removed all but 0.5mm of my cervix. It turned out to be normal, no dysplasia found. The grade 3 pap was not able to be explained. I have been followed every 6mos since, with all normal Paps. In 2004, I had an abdominal cerclage placed to carry a baby to term, followed by a c-section. With this history of cervical/uterine surgeries, my OBGYN does NOT want to do a hysterectomy unless I have abnormal paps or some other life threatening problem. She said a hysterectomy with my history (and lots of scar tissue) would be difficult. So she wants to do the ablation for my heavy bleeding. Is it ok to have an ablation with my past history of CIS??
