GYNECOLOGIC: Chronic BV: To Treat Or Not To Treat?

I've had ongoing BV for about 5 months now. When I first got it I kept rushing to my OB/GYN for tx. For the first 2 months I was treated 3 times: round 1 was Flagl 500 mg BID; round 2 metro gel 1x daily; round three Flagl 500 mg BID followed by 14 days of acid gel. I asked my doctor if I was having the health crisis I thought I was because no one at the doctor's office seemed to think this was a big deal at all. She said no, that perhaps we should leave it alone because the antibiotics can worsen the situtaion by killing off the good flora, and that there was no worry of this turning into a PID. So I decided to get over it, but IT has not gotten over me! Luckliy my symptoms are not too bad, just a little watery discharge here and there and mild irritation of the skin.

I don't know what to do. Is it true there is not any risk of PID? I also want to TTC soon, but I know BV is not good in ealry pregnancy.
