MENOPAUSE: Will Premarin help or hurt my problems-prolapseFrom: abigail (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 29 Oct 2007 01:02:24 -0500 (CDT)
5 yrs ago I started to bleed excessively for about 3yrs, blood count dropped to a 4.0 and was finally diagnosed with a large lemon sized uterine polyp which was removed. I also have fibroids. The problem finally stopped and back to a normal cycle for 2 yrs. I'm now 52 and stopped my period for 4 months (thought I was in menopause). Was having terrible night sweats and total lack of sex drive also having problems with uterine/bladder prolapse. Doctor put me on Premarin. The doctor prescribed it and before I had a chance to take the first dose my period came back. I waited for it to be over and started the Pemarin. Now I've had 2 heavy periods in one month and wonder if I should stop taking the meds. I surely don't want to start any problems back again-it was such a nightmare. I've now been bleeding for 9 days(seems to have a strong odor). I've been taking the Premarin (insert cream)once a week but stopped taking it due to the bleeding. Supposedly the Pemarin could help my prolapse. Should I be on the premarin since it seems that my period had not stopped completely? Since I've stopped taking it I've been a nervous wreck, headaches, sex drive down but bloating(caused by Premarin?)much better.
