Becky,

Talk to your doctor about your concern with the 'odor'. Find out if it is a normal odor for your body makeup. Could you be on a vitamin or med or eat specific food that causes the odor? Ask about what tests need to be done and why? Don't be afraid to question the heavy periods and does the doc think you need an ultrasound or hysteroscopy to check for fibroids, polyps, etc. problems? Write down all your questions on a paper BEFORE the visit so you don't miss anything at the visit. I recommend a diary of what you are experiencing - pain, bleeding, huge clots, med use to take with you so you can answer the docs questions better. Are you going to an gynecologist or family doctor? Ask the doctor how you will be contacted concerning the test results (some offices call you; some send letters). Ask about the use of specific soaps, perfumes, underwear (cotton)?
