GYNECOLOGIC: Failed HysteroscopyFrom: Lynn K. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 27 Oct 2007 01:17:20 -0500 (CDT)
About 2 months ago I was diagnosed with Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding (I had been bleeding for 4 months). I took birth control, and the bleeding stopped, for 5 days, then started again. I had a follow up with a dr and he wanted me to stop taking the pills to see if my system "jumpstarted" itself...it didn't and I kept bleeding. 3 weeks later I went in for a hysterocopy and D&C. a few minutes into the procedure the dr realized he couldn't do it because my cervix wouldn't dilate. He told me that it was stenotic and wouldn't let the dilators in. I know I was told about 5 yrs ago there was a good chance I had Pelvic Inflammatory Disease due to not knowing I had an std for awhile. I am sure that's what has caused this, but everything I have read about stenotic cervix's says that the flow is basically blocked...so something doesn't add up...i don't know what's next but if anyone has suggestions or even has been in a similar situation would like some pointers on what to expect from here...could the stenosis and PID be related or could it be a link to something else...
