CHRONICPAIN: ovarian vein embolization...please help!!From: anonymous@obgyn.netFri, 26 Oct 2007 12:57:41 -0500 (CDT)
Hi. I have had chronic pelvic pain for almost a year. Two laparoscopies resulted in removing my left ovary/tube with endometrioma but no other endo found. Still the same pain has persisted. It is low, heavy, and worse at the end of the day or with activity and has completely interrupted my life. Both my ultrasound and MRI showed pelvic varicosities. I have been referred to an interventional radiologist who believes I may have pelvic congestion and will do a venography to see if this is the case. If he finds it, he will embolize my ovarian and possibly my illiac veins. I also have other vascular issues and recently had surgery on my right leg to improve chronic vein insufficiency. So, this seems to make sense. Has anyone has this procedure? I would like to know if there are any negative side effects of embolization. Could it result in more pain? So far from my reading, it seems to help. But I want as much info as possible to make this decision. Thank you so much for your responses.
