GENERAL: Vaginitis when abstaining from sexual intercourse? From: Abby (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 24 Oct 2007 22:16:13 -0500 (CDT)
After I lost my virginity I didn't have sex again for a long time, and for several months, around the time that I was ovulating I would get a horrible vaginitis infection which was only soothed when taking a warm bath. Because I was at the time only 17, and my mom being a very firm believer in home remedies and alternative health care, I never saw a doctor about it. Since she used to be a midwife, she had a good working knowledge of those kinds of problems, but I don't think she had encountered one like what I was having. Then I met a guy, and over the course of 5 to 6 months we had regular sexual intercourse, and the problem disappeared completely. We broke up about 6 weeks ago, and I haven't had sex since. But now the symptoms of the type of vaginitis I was having are coming back. Any ideas as to why this might be would be helpful. Thanks. -Abby.
