Hi

I had a bladder sling (TOT sling) and cystocele repair done in May. My main complaint at the time was stress incontinence. Within weeks of the surgery I developed a rectocele that went in a matter of four weeks from Stage I to Stage III. Five weeks ago I underwent a rectocele repair with graft augmentation. During this surgery they also discovered an enterocele sac and fixed that one also. Since then bowel issues have been steadily improving, but pelvic pressure and lower back pain remained. I was seen by the surgeon at two weeks post-op and then again a few days ago. At two weeks post op things looked fine. At four weeks post-op my doctor discovered a new cystocele. He claims that it is above the original surgery site. Again this developed within a few weeks of the second surgery....... He was concerned, given my history but we are approaching this new development with a wait and see attitude. I am going to see him again in 6 weeks to reevaluate......

I am 36 years old, otherwise healthy, two vaginal deliveries, strong family history of pelvic organ prolapse. I have lost 30 pounds since my first surgery and am no longer overweight. I still have my uterus and it is not prolapsing yet......

Does anybody have any thoughts on what the future will bring for me. I am somewhat concerned that I seem to develop more problems every time something get fixed.

Do I just have to live with the feeling of pelvic pressure and back pain or are there any chances that something could be done to improve this? I should add, my first surgery was done in a small hospital in my hometown. My rectocele/enterocele surgery was done in big teaching hospital by a "pelvic floor expert" 3 hours away. He evaluated me pre-op and was certain that if my rectocele was fixed I could pelvic organ prolapse in the past...... at his pre-ops he mentioned that I had a high cystocele and a large rectocele, later during surgery he discovered that the cystocele was an enteroal sac insteed.

Any input would be appreciated....... caitcon
