MENORRHAGIA: Question on BC pills

As a effort to try and control abnormal uterine bleeding my gyno has
started me on BC pills and said If I should start to bleed heavy to
double up on the pills (2 a day).Is this safe and good advise?
I have been bleeding heavy with sevear cramping. Last night when I got
home from work I did take the 2nd pill of the day. Today I seem to be
doing ok. Very light bleed and no pain. Thank God.... Just wondering
if anyone has herd of taking 2 pills a day?.
