PREGNANCY: Bacterial Vaginitis in the first trimester

I was diagnosed and treated for bv at a little over 7 weeks pregnant. I now have 3 weeks to go until I am in the 2nd trimester. I have a strong feeling that my bv is back, but am nervous to go to the dr. as I don't want to treat with meds again during this critical time of development. Am I doing more harm than good waiting? What are safe treatments in the first trimester? I was on clindamycin intravaginal, but it caused extreme irritation. I am so frustrated with bv that I am having trouble just enjoying being pregnant. Thank you.
