GYNECOLOGIC: Vaginal discharge and cervicitisFrom: kulala (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 26 Sep 2007 19:21:05 -0500 (CDT)
Ever since my late puberty years (I am 28 now), I have a vaginal discharge problem. It happens everyday, sometimes barely and other times a lot more. It is mucus/pus-like, can be creamy, white with a slight yellowish tint, often more yellowish than not. When the discharge comes out, it doesn't have a foul odor but it sometimes develops a sour smell on my underwear if I don't have time to wipe it. I have no other symptoms and self-screening kit shows that my pH is not > 4.5. I've been diagnosed with Bacterial Vaginosis several times before, and was prescribed MetroGel, Clymacydin, oral antibiotics, or intravaginal gel with oral pills at the same time, you name it, and I have yogurt and L. Acidophilus in my regular diet now. But nothing seems to help with the symptoms. I was tested negative for chlamydia and gonorrhea and trichomonas. I never had abnormal paps. My regular GYN said in my last two visits that this is normal for me. But when I went to another GYN today, she said I have cervicitis (my cervix is inflammed) and gave me doxycycline. After the swab at the clinic, I noticed slightly brown discharge. Does that indicate bleeding? Should I be worried about HSV or HPV although I never had sex before (even when I had the discharge) only except for oral sex in a monogamous relationship recently? Can this be a case of chronic cervicitis or mucopurulent cervicitis or even endometritis and what are my options for treatment? Thank you in advance for your help. I am so worried that I am not sure if I should even be in any relationship now. Frustrated and confused, Kulala.
