PREGNANCY: Burning and numbness in thigh, nine months pregant

Hi. I am pregnant at about 37 weeks. For the last few weeks, I have had a problem with the outside upper portion of my right thigh feeling like it is on fire, and when I would touch my leg, the entire portion is completely numb to the touch. When I asked the OB about it, he said that it sounded like sometype of bacteria or something, then prescribed me a cream that has steriods in it, and the packaging says it is for fungal infections. I did not use this as I honestly feel that he was not listening to what I was telling him. Even the muscle will be numb when this happens and it is intermitent. I do have extreme hip pain that comes and goes on my left side and will occassionally feel like the joint is 'catching' or will almost pop out of socket, or at least that is what it feels like. Along with all of this I have a lot of mild to moderate pain in my lower back, and as of this weekend, I have started to get shooting pains down the inside of my left thigh, which immediately afterwards will cause me to feel like my leg wants to give out and have actually had to grab on to something to keep from falling. Most of these symtoms do less or go away if I sit or lay down, or at least did until today when I started getting the burning/numb sensation while I was sitting down watching t.v. I am really starting to get worried as I live in a small town and it would really be impractical to try to get another doctor at this time, yet I really want to know if there is something seriously wrong or if the baby might simply be pressing against some nerve or something. The doctor did send me into get a sonogram a week ago and the tech said that the baby looked like she might already be at seven pounds, can you give me any ideas on what might be causing all of this? This is not my first pregnancy, is my fifth and last, but I dont remember ever having any of the symtoms listed here ever before and am honestly worried. Is it possible these symtoms are from something else that is not pregnancy related and that I need to have taken care of? Please any ideas would be useful. Thank you!
