PREGNANCY: Hypertension Medicine While PregnantFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netTue, 11 Sep 2007 14:21:34 -0500 (CDT)
I am 29 yrs. old, I've been on blood pressure medicine for 2 years now. I take Diovan HCT and Norvasc, I recently got married and talked to my doctor about conceiving soon. He took me off the Diovan and replaced it with Methyldopa (Aldomet)250 mg 3 x's a day and told me to continue to take the Norvasc. He said that Aldomet is pregnancy safe. Will the Aldomet and the Norvasc harm the fetus? Has anyone ever taken medicine before and the entire pregnancy? This is 4 pills a day. We aren't planning to conceive until a couple of months from now. I've read something saying that my chances will be harder to conceive because Aldomet does something to the uterus lining. Should I have been kept on the Diovan until I found out I was pregnant? I trust my doctors know what he's doing but, Please let me know what you know about Aldomet. Thanks.
