PCOS: Very Regular But Anovulatory Cycles -- Questions!From: A.N. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 10 Sep 2007 11:38:46 -0500 (CDT)
I am 39 years old with a history of PCOS. For many years, I managed the PCOS with birth control pills. My period didn't return after stopping the pill, but I was able to conceive two children with fertility meds. About 15 months after the birth of my second child, my period started spontaneously. I've since settled into a very regular 26 or 27 day cycle. However I'm pretty certain that I'm not ovulating. My temperature charts are all over the place and show no clear pattern of anything! So my question is does the regular bleeding protect me from hyperplasia going forward? Now that I am no longer trying to conceive, what should I be doing to manage the PCOS? I should mention that I'm normal weight (BMI = 22.6). My lipid profile is normal. Recent labs showed elevated testosterone and estrogen and low progesterone. Many thanks!!!
