CHRONICPAIN: mom's abdominal/pelvic painFrom: bm (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 6 Sep 2007 02:29:15 -0500 (CDT)
Mom is 62yr old female. Pain started over a year ago now, in lower abdomen/pelvic area. She has had a physical, blood work, pap test, pelvic ultrasound(uterus normal; ovaries normal one not visible), colonoscopy (1 small beningn poly removed)and upper endoscopy (to see stomach---mild gastritis detected). Still though she has pain every so often which she says is not always in the same place nor the same side. She says it can radiate to her groin or down her leg. Her dr. had her do another stool test (negative) though I would expect it to be since her colonoscopy was in March...At one point dr said she had a lot of gas in her intestines....could all this still be gas? I think dr has run out of ideas but I am still very much worried. Any suggestions on what to do next would be appreciated. Does pain that is not localized to the same place each time, make it less likely to be serious? I was especially worried about colon cancer....ruled out.... or ovarian/uterine cancer...but the work-up doesn't seem to suggest this thank God.
