I agree with Pat, that hormones and smoking are a bad couple. That said, you are being affected by menopause with huge quality of life issues. Hormone replacement will help that. And hormone replacement therapy is about 1/10 the amount of estrogen as oral contraceptives

What I would suggest is to start on the lowest dose of replacement. At the same time, initiate a smoking cessation therapy (chantix or zyban). Perhaps the 'feel good' nature of the hormone replacement and the smoking cessation therapy will allow you to stop smoking. You will thus be killing 2 birds with one stone. Good Luck...Dr. von Almen
