CHRONICPAIN: Chronic Pelvic Pain post hysterectomyFrom: earlyriser (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 28 Aug 2007 09:16:59 -0500 (CDT)
Following a sub total hysterectomy performed via laparotomy a year later , I had to under go removal of the cervical stump due to continued cyclic bleeding. This second surgery was performed vaginally. Following this surgery I began to lose a pelvic discharge vaginally which was green in colour and foul smelling, it was accompanied by severe pelvic pain in the left side. After several courses of intraveous antibotics the discharge subsided and I was discharged from hospital. 12 months on I am continueing to have a cyclic pain building in the left side which culminates in a feeling like a baloon has burst inside me and a thick dark red bloodstained discharge appears for 4-5 days accomapained by a temeperature of fever level, flu like symptoms in that my bones ache and I have no energy, these symptoms are occuring on a 22 day cycle. I have my left ovary and tube left and my gp has put me on the pill as she believes that it is hormonally linked. My pain specilist who I am under for a spinal pain probelm has now performed a sacral major plexus nerve block which has been of great relief in reducing the pelvic pain but the discharge and other symptoms continue. My gynacologist wants to wait another 6 months to see how things go but is running out of ideas does anyone have any suggestions. IS it possible to have a LUNA procedure following hysterectomy ? Many Thanks
