MENSTRUATION: Increasingly lighter periodsFrom: Beth (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 27 Aug 2007 07:02:05 -0500 (CDT)
Hello, I have just started my 5th cycle after discontinuing birth control and have been charting for these cycles. My period has been getting lighter and lighter with each subsequent cycle, to the point where my menses is now three days of minimal spotting that does not require a sanitary napkin or tampon. The cycles are regular and do show a thermal shift indicative of ovulation. I have elevated androgens, but a pelvic ultrasound before I quit birth control pills revealed no evidence of PCOS and a fasting glucose tolerance test was also completely normal. Is a practically non-existent (albeit regular) period a sign of a hormone imbalance, and is this something I need to address with a doctor? (We are trying to conceive our first child). Thank you for your advice. Regards, Beth
