HYSTERECTOMY: AGUS and hysterectomyFrom: Becky (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 25 Aug 2007 13:50:47 -0500 (CDT)
I'm 53, and have not had periods for about 3 years and am in excellent health. I've also been blessed with not having any menopausal symptoms (hot flashes etc.). A year ago I had a PAP smear which indicated HPV. My OB/GYN followed up with a colposcopy and LEEP and found nothing. She indicated the LEEP could also be curative. This year I had another PAP with HPV. We are heading down the same path, but with another normal looking Colposcopy, she did another PAP and it came back with AGUS. Two weeks later I went in for a second LEEP and am waiting the results. My OB/GYN has given me 2 paths to consider, depending upon the results - either go back every 3-4 months for additional tests, or consider a hysterectomy. Does this sound about right? Are there other tests that could be considered? Would a second opinion make sense, and how soon after the LEEP could another procedure be done?
