MENORRHAGIA: Long Menstrual Cycle - Should I be concernedFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netThu, 23 Aug 2007 14:40:21 -0500 (CDT)
I am a 48 year old female. I haven't had my period for three months, so I thought I was done and that menopause has started. Other than having no period, I had no other signs of menopause...No hot flashes, mood changes, etc.. Three weeks ago I started to spot. After a week of spotting I started my period, and now have had it for two weeks, 14 days. should I be concerned? I'm also very tired. Some more background you may need to know: ~I had a bladder infection 4 days ago. I went to the doctor. I had no fever, the urine test showed an infection, white and red blood cells. I was prescribed Ciprofloxacin 500mg twice a day for three days. The infection is now gone. ~A year ago I had a blood test and they told me I wasn't in peri-menopause yet. ~Breast cancer runs in the family, so hormones aren't an option for me. ~I still don't have a fever and blood pressure was fine, when I went to the doctor 4 days ago. What do you think doc?
