CHRONICPAIN: Causes of abdominal bloating and extreme tenderness? - near tears! From: Kelly G (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 7 Aug 2007 01:34:13 -0500 (CDT)
In absence of a period, what would cause abdominal bloating? I don't have bleeding periods anymore, just sort of phantom periods. I had a laparoscopy a few months back. I had an ovarian cyst on the left, which they did a cystectomy for. I've noticed the last couple of months that my abdomen from my belly button down seems to become more bloated throughout the day until by the end of the day it is extremely bloated, completely tender, and extremely tight feeling. If I am on my feet a lot or walk a lot, it gets even worse. Also, there is an area on the left side near where one of the small laparascopy incisions was that is just extremely painful. Nothing is visible, but it feels like a really deep bruise -- the skin is just so supersensitive that just even clothing grazing that area is enough to drive me bananas. If my 6-year-old accidently bumps the area (even lightly), I go absolutely through the roof it hurts that bad. It's been like this for months, pretty much ever since the laparoscopy. There are times when the area hurts so much, that I just want to cry. It seems like I have made no progress in healing in that area. I'm worried something didn't heal right or perhaps something is trapped in there. Three months seems like a long time to have this much pain and sensitivity in that area. Can anyone suggest a possible cause? Thanks so much in advance. K
