MENORRHAGIA: SHORT cycles (12 days), spotting mid cycle, excessive hair loss, help pleaseFrom: Carolyn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 6 Aug 2007 09:41:43 -0500 (CDT)
Let me start by saying that I have addressed this with my gyno, and he just wants to put me on the pill to regulate my cycles. I however, want to find out WHY my cycles have gone wonky and treat the cause, not mask the effects. I'm 34 Y/O and have had 2 children, 5 and 3 years old. I have had high-grade lesions removed from my cervix via a cone biopsy. I have had 2 all clear follow-up paps since that time. I have very irregular cycles. Sometimes they are 22 days, sometimes they are 26, usually they are about 24 or 25, but like now, they've been as short as 12 days. I typically start spotting around cycle day 18 and it starts off black/brown, and often times has an odd odor. Not always, but often. By cycle day 22 - 23, it goes to more of a dark red to bright red. I will have a flow for 4 - 7 days, and spot for a day or two after the heavy flow stops. I seem to have excessive hair loss - what seems like handfuls of hair each time I run my hands through my hair in the shower, every morning. My body seems to be falling apart. I have bad sciatic pain fairly regularly. I have issues with my spine shoulders and hips, they get out of alignment often; and while I love my chiropractor, I need to find out why that is happening so often. My chiropractor thinks that my endocrine system is not functioning like it is supposed to. Oh, and I am also having a hard time with achieving weight loss. I eat healthy, lots of fresh fruits and veggies, not a ton of meat, drink water mostly, but have an occasional coffee in the morning. If anyone could give me some information to take to a new Gyno, one who will listen to my concerns and actually help me treat the cause, not the symptoms alone, I would be forever appreciative.
