Mary,

If you are having problems that are due to fibroids, age matters very little. Yes, there are many choices for fibroid treatment and which is best for you, will depend upon many factors. Without specific information regarding your general health, the size, number and location of the fibroids, it is not likely anyone could help you make a decision. I would suggest you collect the various options and talk with your OB/Gyn about them. He/She should be able to explain the benefit/risks of each treatment option and why you may or may not be a candidate for a given mode of treatment. Then the two of you make a joint decision. If he/she does not meet your needs, a second opinion is always a good idea. I am not certain that your age alone, would be a factor in use of birth control pills if you are otherwise in good health and a non-smoker.
