CHRONICPAIN: Lower Left abdominal pain (ovary?)From: Worried Missy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 29 Jul 2007 00:10:13 -0500 (CDT)
I'm 24 years old, have had one abortion, one c-section delivery, PID in the past 2 years, and I have HPV. For the past 4 months I've been having painful menstrual cycles with increased flow along with sharp twinges around my left ovary. For the past 2 weeks when I exercise (jump rope, jogging) I get a sharp pain in my lower left side that becomes sore for a day or so. I was diagnosed with PID 2 years ago and got rid of it but was diagnosed again 6 months ago, my partner was not tested or treated. I have an appointment soon with my GYN, but I'm concerned that it may be PID, ovarian cysts (runs in my family), or endomytriosis (runs in family also). I've always had off and on slightly smelly discharge that seems to go away on it's own. Within the past 24 hours the pain in my left side (hot and searing) has become more pronounced. Example: when i cough, sneeze, or blow my nose it becomes intense. I haven't had intercourse in months so I don't know if my uterus is tender. Sorry for the rambling, I'm just concerned as to what may be going on and what tests need to be done. I'm on a limited income so all I have is the State Health Dept. which offers no ultrasound and very little testing. I would greatly appreciate some advice (soon). Thank you.
