Re: PREGNANCY: Decreased Fetal Movement (update)From: Melissa L (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 26 Jul 2007 15:22:09 -0500 (CDT)
Well, yesterday morning I went back to the ER at a different hospital (since I do not have an actual OB yet, L&D at this hospital told me I had to go to ER first) since I had not felt any movement in about 12 hours. I was worried beyond belief, so, naturally my high blood pressure was higher (usually fine with the labatelol, but it was 180/100 or something like that yesterday morning) They checked the fetal heart tones and they were fine, 153-ish, and did an ultrasound. The doctor said that I may not be feeling movement as much as I should because the baby is breech and posterior (I have never had a child who was breech this late in the pregnancy, so I do not know if this has anything to do with feeling movement or not). One thing that struck the doctor as odd is that the baby is only measuring 28 weeks instead of 33 (I am 33 weeks today) so the u/s tech tried to tell me I concieved AFTER I saw the heartbeat on my first u/s.... After explaining to the doc and tech that I have small babies and my own mistrust of ultrasound sizes, they just kind of shruged the size thing off.... I have since not felt anything more then one or two kicks every few hours, but I am feeling something, so that is reassuring. Could the stress from recently moving, twice, be causing the baby not to move that much? Could it be that she is running out of room in there, so her movements are not getting as much leverage as they were, and, therefore, I can't feel them as much? Does her being breech really effect the movement as much as the doctor said? (she is in a frank breech with her feet up by her head almost) With this position, could she just not be able to move her hands to punch because her legs are in the way and not move her legs because of the position they are in? I did find an OB in the area (about 15 minutes away) who will take on a high risk patient (needless to say, I had to explain to the secretary why I am high risk, lol) this late in the pregnancy (even though I just moved here, no one would be willing to take me, lol) and the earliest I can get in to see him is Tuesday morning. But, he did say if I don't feel anything by tomorrow morning to go into the L&D at the hospital he delivers at. I can only imagine what all this stress from not feeling her move is doing to my blood pressure, lol... What do you think, Pat? You can email me off list if you would like to discuss it more. Hopefully, this doctor will treat me like I actually know something instead of a hinderance like the few I have delt with so far have (some I find treat you like you are less then intelligent when they find out you are a doula, lol, I don't expect to be treated like an equal, but like I do have a brain in my head)
