ONCOLOGY: Question on Peau D OrangeFrom: cowgirl (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 23 Jul 2007 21:26:17 -0500 (CDT)
I am 28 yo healthy female on OCPs. Two days ago I noticed edematous skin in the medial lower quadrant of my left breast. The night previous to this discovery my boyfriend and I had sex which involved breast stimulation and squeezing. We have done this before and I have not had any noticeable bruise or edema afterwards. The area has gotten slightly larger in the first 24hrs and has now remained consistent x 72hs. The area is oval shaped, slightly pink, 3inches in diameter. There is no pruritis and it is not warmer than my other breast nor painful. Nothing that resembles ecchymosis. A Great Aunt on my mother's side had breast CA in her early 40s and my paternal grandmother had "bone cancer" with an unidentified primary. I do routine breast exams and have not felt any changes but have very cystic breasts (makes it difficult for me). Could this be trauma related? Or should I worry/pursue workup for inflammatory breast CA? I am scared.
