CONTRACEPTION: The Pill and Breakthrough BleedingFrom: lc28 (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 20 Jul 2007 14:40:12 -0500 (CDT)
I started my first pill ever, Yasmin 20 mcg, on July 1 (the Sunday after my period started). I have had little side effects so far - just some tender and swollen breasts in the 2nd week but it has gone away. This past Tuesday I got some blood in discharge that I was having after using Boric Acid suppositories at bedtime (3 nights in a row) for a chronic yeast infection. This was also the first time I was using Boric Acid. My gyn told me that I was having breakthrough bleeding and it was not caused by the Boric Acid. She told me to stop the suppositories and track my bleeding... and that it was normal while my body adjusts to the pill. How long should I expect this to go on? The first day it was bright red, and just with the discharge, nothing in my panties. Now I have a mauve color discharge everyday usually just at a specific time in the afternoon before my pill is due to be taken again. I take my pill on time within an hour of the last days pill. Thanks!
