Yes, but rare, unless your partner is very rough contributing to the bleeding/tearing. Some women postpartum might be more susceptible. Some women are very estrogen deficient, and that might contribute to the tearing, Just small amounts of blood isn't a big concern, as those tissues heal up so very quickly. The vagina is very vascular, but the tissues are generally very stretchy and certaintly if you can birth a baby, there is plenty of room. The state of the tissue might be related to a birth control method, or perhaps nutritional issues. And, if you have any kind of vaginal infection, that can contribute to the bleeding. I am thinking yeast infections can really make the tissues more friable, and of course some infections actually do contribute to bleeding.
