AYGESTRIN: Heavy bleeding 1st time, aygestrin?From: Tricia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 9 Jul 2007 14:45:03 -0500 (CDT)
Hello, I am 51 yrs old, have had very regular periods until this past month where I started bleeding 6 days after period ended and am still bleeding over 3 weeks later. My Doctor said it was peri-menopause and ordered pelvic ultra sound and endo-biopsy. I had the ultrasound today and results were that I had 3 fibroids, one ovary 2.5 cm and 2 uterus, one on the fundus 3.5 com and another small one. I was given a prescription for aygestrin and will have the biopsy soon. My question is about the aygestrin? I have read about lots of side effects. Have you taken this drug sucessfully. I was also told that hyterectomy may be the end result. Are there any alternatives and could this be something else besides peri-menopause? Thanks, not sure what to do next?
