PREGNANCY: What doctor should I see?

I have a hypothetical question since I'm not even pregnant right now ... when I do decide to get pregnant, what's the best kind of doctor to see for the pregnancy? I really like my family doctor and she (and one other doctor at the practice) deliver babies. I like the idea of going to the same doctor I go to for everything else, having a doctor that I already have a good rapport with and being comfortable knowing everyone there (since I've gone there since I was a child). But I wonder if a general practitioner is the best choice in pregnancy? Do they have the training needed if something goes wrong? If I have to have a C-section, can they do that?

Also, in planning to get pregnant in a few months (I had back surgery so I need to wait a while) I'd like to lose some more weight. I have lost 30 pounds and would like to lose about 30 more to be at a healthy weight. What are the complications that occur during pregnancy if I don't get the weight off?

Thanks for your insight. This is an awesome forum!
